Change Your Mind is Northern Ireland’s regional campaign to tackle stigma and discrimination around mental health. It is a joint programme run by Inspire and the Public Health Agency. We are funded by Comic Relief and work in partnership with a range of organisations and community networks across Northern Ireland.
We are a grassroots campaign shaped by the collaboration of communities, organisations and individuals who are championing the message against mental health stigma across society – a campaign for people driven by people.
We believe that people experiencing mental health difficulties should be given the opportunity to thrive in all areas of their lives.
The statistics around mental ill health in Northern Ireland are stark. 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health problem each year with rates in NI estimated to be around 25% higher than elsewhere in the UK. With the right support, people with mental health problems can and do recover to live full lives.
Change your Mind is a joint campaign between Inspire and the Public Health Agency. Our work is only possible due to the generous support from Comic Relief.
Our oversight and advisory committee provides us with expert advice, guidance and support to ensure the programme is driven by shared learning, best practice and specialist knowledge. Our LEAP group (Lived Experience Advisory Panel) provide us with experiential knowledge of mental health stigma and its impact and the activities of the campaign are led by their input. Complementary to this, we work with a range of experts to ensure that our programmes are appropriate and relevant for those we wish to reach.
